About the Sunday Writing Sessions

The Sunday Writing Sessions take place over a lovely extended Sunday morning (10am-2pm) on the second and fourth Sunday of every month in our own light and airy room in Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff. Due to the timing, these sessions have a particularly civilised Sunday-ish feel to them – think the workshop equivalent of coffee, croissants and the weekend papers! Instead, we have our notebooks open and enjoy a good scribble with warm, interesting, like-minded company.

These sessions are for intended adults (over 18s) of all levels of writing experience, from those who are completely new to creative writing and looking for a supportive and structured environment to give it a whirl, to those who have written for years but benefit from the impetus and stimulation of the workshop-experience and all round hearty atmosphere.  Either which way, all writers – new, experienced, hesitant, procrastinating, those in-need-of-a-creative-boost, those-in-need-of-fresh-ideas, those-in-need-of-renewed-writerly-confidence – will always find a warm reception, inspiring exercises, excellent-quality listening and generous feedback as part of the ‘Sunday Writing Session’ experience.

Each Sunday has its own loose theme, intended to stimulate mind, memory and imagination. Writers are welcome to respond in poetry or prose, fiction or autobiography, or a mixture of any of these things – whatever feels right in that moment. Some may come to invigorate an ongoing project, some may come to begin one, some may come to revel in the pleasure of writing for writing’s sake and for the privilege of listening to others and for the experience of being listened to.

Costs and Booking

Each session is an individual entity with a new composition of people, with a maximum group size of 12. The booking process is as simple as dropping me a line at brionygoffin@gmail.com with the Sunday/s you’d like to attend. I don’t request deposits. Each session is paid for in full on the day. I only ask that if you can no longer make a session you give me as much notice as possible so I can make your place available for someone else. A session is £35 (£25 unwaged). Places can get snaffled up quickly so it can serve to move reasonably swiftly, usually a waiting list is generated for each session.
